Welcome to the Hanlan site. This website is dedicated to the Hanlan Surname providing an online source of information as well as building an online community for all the Hanlan's out there.

The Hanlan surname is not that common around the world but since I created the Hanlan Site it has amazed me how we Hanlan's span the globe. There have been Hanlan's from America, Canada, Africa, Australia, China and many more places around the world who have either contacted myself or taken part in the Hanlan Site features such as the forum, guestbook and name list. The history of where we Hanlan's came from is very hard to find but from what I have learned, the Hanlan surname is an offshoot from O'Hanlon. O'Hanlon was a an ancient family from Ireland and through reasons unknown descendants of the O'Hanlon's changed they're surnames slightly at different points in History. Other Offshoots of the O'Hanlon surname are Hanlon and O'Hanlan. The Coat of Arms which you can see throughout the site with a Boar as its centre piece is actually the O'Hanlon Coat of Arms but since the Hanlan surname comes from O'Hanlan this is also our Coat of Arms.
Feel free to make full use of the website and say Hi in the shoutbox on the left. The main project of the Hanlan Site is the Name List which is a list of Hanlan's (past & present) worldwide. To submit a name to the Name list just go to the namelist and use the name form. The Stories & Pics page is a fairly new part of the Hanlan Site and will hopefully have pics and stories of Hanlan's worldwide, You can subit your own stories and pics to be included on the Stories & Pics page. The Guestbook & Guestmap are a good way of making your mark on the site. Use the Forum to discuss anything and everything. If your looking for information or help with your family tree or searching for some long lost relative then the forum is the first place to ask. There is a chatroom for for family and friends to meet online safely for a chat as well as chat with other website users. Also check out the Links page for useful links to other websites.
